Fanatics of the toy and TV phenomenon Bakugan traveled from all over the country to New York's Roseland Ballroom on the weekend, for their chance to be crowned the first ever Bakugan national champion at Baku-Con. Christopher Ruff of Cerritos, California won the title, besting thousands of tournament hopefuls from Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando and New York.

Thousands packed the Roseland Ballroom over the weekend, as kids not only came to compete, but also to participate in a wide variety of Bakugan activities. Spin Master flew in 128 of the top Bakugan brawlers from across America to compete in the weekend's championship event, who had been competing in regional Baku-Con tournaments since the beginning of January.

"Kids are crazy over Bakugan, and they really loved the Baku-Con experience," said Harold Chizick, VP Global Communications and Promotions for Spin Master. "They came out in droves for each of the regionals, and the Roseland Ballroom was buzzing with excitement over the weekend. The action was just amazing. Congratulations to Christopher Ruff for being an amazing brawler, and becoming the first ever Bakugan national champion."

Regional Baku-Con champions are Chicago's Abel Fernandez, Los Angeles' Elijah Torres, Dallas' Nick Spagnoletti, Orlando's Matt Torres, and New York City's Andrew Perico.

Announcing updates and additional information to those of you coming to the Regional and National BakuCon Tournaments in New York City..

All seats for the New York Regional Main Tournament are full! But there is still a lot to do at BakuCon NYC!

Come watch the final Baku-Con battle between two of the country’s toughest Brawlers to see who will be crowned The National Bakugan Champion as well as participate in the BakuCon Side Events and Activities!

There are also some additions to the BakuCon Events and Activities:

- Side Tournaments -
Bakugan competition for every skill level. BakuCon NYC will feature six side tournaments throughout the course of each day. That means 12 additional tournaments to participate in all weekend long!
Side tournaments offer exciting brawls with specific themes and epic prizes, such as a Nintendo Wii, 8G iPod, and much more.
**Note: Side tournies in the A.M. are only open to those not competing in the main event. The tournies in the afternoon are open to anyone to compete.***

- Meet Bakugan Celebrities-
The one and only Lord Darkus and all of our officially ranked Bakugan Masters will be there to sign autographs and share their favorite Bakugan strategies with fellow brawlers!

Featured Battles on the Main Stage:
Big games, big screens... the best brawlers battle it out on the BakuCon main stage in featured matches for everyone to watch. Top down battlefield camera catches each move and every roll! Bakugan Masters provide live play-by-play commentary allowing everyone to follow the excitement.
