  • Spot the Difference: Real versus Fake Bakugan

A lot of fake Bakugan are still circulating around the internet, and there are people that don't know how to spot the difference between a real Bakugan and a fake one. So we have here a compilation of videos and tips on how to determine whether the Bakugan you just bought is real or a fake.

    Packaging
This should be the most obvious sign that can tell you if the Bakugan you're buying is real or a fake. You can easily spot fake Bakugan because instead of “Bakugan” written on the packaging, you'll find “Burst Egg” or “Bomb Ball” instead. If the packaging is also different from the standard packaging of Spin Master and Sega Toys, then most probably that Bakugan is a fake.

In looking for real Bakugan, make sure that the packaging is correct, meaning that the logos of the producing companies of the product are shown. Make sure that the packaging has the Spin Master and Sega Toys logos and copyright statements on it. The fake ones usually do not have these.

    Color and Attribute
Fake Bakugan would have a bad paint job, and sometimes the colors used aren't exact. If you see subterra Bakugan that have too dark brown color, then it's fake. If you see a ventus Bakugan with a dark green body part (without the usual tiny sparkly bits), then that Bakugan is fake.

The color of the Bakugan also has to be consistent with the attribute. It is certainly a fake when the Bakugan is colored blue when it has a Pyrus attribute on it. Make sure to check on the attributes clearly.

It would be helpful for us if we could take a good look at the Bakugan before buying it. At the very least, we should know what it generally looks like before making that decision to buy it. Going over the pictures of Spin Master, Bakugan.com, and here at Bakugan Buzz can help with that.

    Size
There have been Bakugan balls that are not of the right B1, B2, or B3 sizes. It's obvious that the Bakugan is fake if the ball is larger or smaller than the intended B-size.

    G-Power
Another indication on whether the Bakugan is fake or not is with how the G-Power is written on the Bakugan. The fake ones usually have thinner and taller numbers written on the ball. Other fakes also have stickers used in labelling the G-Power. Real Bakugan have G-Powers that are written in compact and clear font. Look closely for this difference when determining a fake and a real Bakugan.

    Copyright and Codes
Aside from the G-Power, real Bakugan would also have the copyright code and the serial code embedded on the ball. The copyright code goes as “@s/s/b.”

    Screws and Magnets
Look closely at the screws on your Bakugan. You will know that the Bakugan is real if the screw has a triangular dent. Screws usually have a cross-shaped dent on its head, but real Bakugan use screws with the triangular dent on the head. If the screws on your Bakugan is cross-shaped, and not triangular, then your Bakugan is a fake.

You will also know that a Bakugan is fake if the magnet on the bottom of the ball is exposed. Real Bakugan do not have exposed magnets.

    Bakugan Cards
The Bakugan cards are also victims of the real-versus-fake dilemma. There are also cards circulating that turn out to be fake. Here are some instances when you will know that the card is fake:

    - Wrong picture or wrong label
    - Color of the image and whole card is rather dull and blurry
    - The font for the label is smaller and thinner than usual
    - There is no copyright or card number written at the bottom of the card
    - For Gate cards, the magnetic sheet inside the card is not proportional to the card, or is not properly placed
    - Fake Bakugan cards are usually found with fake packaging
    - Descriptions in the card are written in Chinese
