They aren't random. I've seen several colors of these, and it seems like there's a couple of different varieties for each color. For example, all the red boxes I've seen had either Pyrus Storm Skyress or Subterra Warius. All the clear boxes I've seen had either Darkus Preyas II Diablo or Haos Blade Tigrerra. All the blue boxes I've seen had Aquos Limulus.I've also seen green boxes but I don't remember who was in them. There isn't any mystery about the contents, however. If you look on the UPC tag, it says in text below the tag what color the box is *and* what Bakugan comes inside the box. So even if you can't tell the Bakugan from the lines, or the color because of the tinting of the box, it's all written on the UPC label. For example, I bought two boxes the other day (the only ones I could find with characters I don't already have =(. The UPC labels for the boxes say:

    • "CLEAR CASE/BlackPreyas2Diablo"
    • "RED CASE/BrownWarius"

And yes, they're written with the words all run together like that. But it's obviously pretty easy to decipher.

As a kid I liked the M.U.S.C.L.E. things, too. Funny, Bakugan has really made me remember those. I also had quite a few Transformers. A fair number of GI Joe and Star Wars figures, too — it's very interesting to see how they've been re-releasing all the “classic” toys the past few years. My younger brothers got into Magic: The Gathering, and although I found it intriguing and even invented a few humorous cards, I never really got into it.I was a big LEGO collector as a youth, although I gave up on that as a teen and my large collection got merged with my younger siblings' so now my youngest brother "owns" it all.LEGO was the first toy I started collecting as an adult. I started when my oldest son was just barely 2 -- I was at a yard sale and a teenager was selling off pretty much his entire LEGO collection. I stopped by at the end and offered to buy everything that was left for $60. I made a serious killing on LEGO that day.In spite of the suggested age, I started playing with them with my son a few months later. To my surprise he picked up on LEGO building very quickly. He started with us building models together, and gradually I had to give him less and less help. He'd usually build a model and almost immediately tear off parts of it (wings, cockpit, or whatever) and modify or rebuild the model with replacement parts. By the time he was four he was building original models that were far more interesting than anything I could come up with. My other two children have pretty much followed the same path.As far as other "collecting" goes, in my early twenties I got into serious photography, so I've built up quite a collection of cameras, lenses, flashes, tripods, bags, etc. Trust me, compared to digital photography, Bakugan is a dirt cheap hobby -- at this point any new gear I would buy that's an improvement over what I currently own would cost at least $2000 (and most things I "want" cost more in the $5000+ range). Suffice it to say I don't buy new photo gear nearly as often as I buy Bakugan. There are definitely limits to my budget =)I love photography as a creative outlet, perhaps because I'm not actually very "creative" in the sense of being able to conceive of entirely new ideas. Instead I'm a "tinkerer" or "improver" -- I'm always (mostly subconsciously) looking at things, situations, etc. -- and figuring out ways to change them and make them better. And often I'm making connections between ideas and influences from different sources. But I don't think I ever come up with something that's truly an original thought or visualization. So I think I like photography because it allows me to explore and be creative visually, but it's not a "completely original" type of art. Instead of starting with a blank canvas, you're always starting with something that exists in reality, and (in my case) trying to capture something interesting or beautiful about it, or tell a story about it, and preserve that reality. (I'm not really big into extreme image manipulation, as you can probably tell.)

I saw this today too but the "exclusive" was Aquos Translucent Diablo.

I expect that's probably what I saw too, and I just mis-remembered in my first post.

I guess they must finally be sending these out in significant numbers now. I was at my local Target today and they had all eight spin Bakugan, all four colors of the square Trap, and two Preyas IIs.

Hi again everyone.I kind of dropped off the radar for a couple of weeks.I had some deadlines at work to show my boss and his boss my progress on my current project, to see if it's going to be continued or dropped. So I was working day and night to get it as far along as I could!Anyway, for the short term it's continuing, so I'm not going to have lots of free time, but hopefully I'll still be able to stop by every couple of days.I just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive and collecting Bakugan!

The game is more text/rpg type and will basically be a patch to the apprentice software that will allow you to play bakugan. I will include rules on how to make the apprentice software work for bakugan.

Sounds like your stores are getting the same shipments mine are.I picked up a clear B2 Saurus last week at Toys R Us. Today they got a new shipment and had about four more of them, as well as a Pearl Ventus Bee Striker. The same batch had the others you mentioned as well, although I had seen all of those before. And also like you, I'm still searching for the elusive trap or spin or two-side Preyas.

Maybe add different percentages depending on which card your aiming for. So if im aiming for mine it may be 50 miss 30 mine and 20 opponent and if im aimig for opponent have it swapped so 50 miss 30 opponent and 20 mine

I was going to suggest something along those lines too -- if you're aiming for a particular card then you'll probably have a higher chance of hitting that card, but still a chance of hitting the other card.Personally, for greatest realism I think it should vary along other aspects too (although not so much). One obvious example is with which Bakugan marble is being rolled:

    • Many of the marbles are much heavier on the bottom half than the top half. That means they roll lopsided and (unless you manage to roll it perfectly) they curve somewhat.
    • Others have protrusions that are loose that can mess up the roll, such as that hideous top feather on Storm Skyress. I've seen rolls go completely wild because that part pops out and hits.
    • Some marbles are "looser" than others and thus more likely to open, or else the magnet is more or less exposed which affects the liklihood of it sticking. For example, I have a B2 Preyas (not Preyas Diablo) that hardly stays closed at all. Unless I roll it *very* carefully, on a soft surface like carpet, it opens up as soon as it contacts the surface. Today I got a new Bee Striker that seems to have extra plastic over the magnet, or perhaps it's defective. In any case, it hardly lands at all (and even when it does it never opens -- but that's not relevant of course)

Finally, I'd say some of this depends on the design of the game, and how the gameplay works. If it's mostly a text/role play game, then you probably do want a simpler statistical "die roll" type system. On the other hand, if it's a more graphical game, you could make it involve more user interaction. For example, you could have the player aim a launcher, choose the force of the roll, and choose to apply some amount and direction of spin. In that case it could be similar to physics simulators (or games like "scorched earth" or "Worms armageddon") where it combines the angle and force to determine the path, and only if it actually crosses a card at slow enough speed does it try to decide if and where it lands.

I agree, for your first five that's a nice set (at least, most of those are really hard to find where I live)

Hello and welcome!I started with three also, and now I'm up to over one hundred. But I don't recommend that approach too much =)(I'll probably be returning or selling many of mine soon)

They do use the yellow ring. It is called a highlight and the ability card that uses it says:

Play during a battle. If your Bakugan has a special treatment your Bakugan gains G-power equal to the Gate card's highlighted bonus.

Just a note of clarification, there's more than one ability card that refers to highlight. I know I've seen at least two different ability cards that refer to "highlighted bonus", maybe more.

A list of packages would be impossible and inefficient as many have past , never to be gotten again. However a list of Bakugan, what attributes they come in in what g's is possible...and possibly whether a certain G comes in a starter or a booster or both.I have around 150 Bakugan and know of plenty more. ...Closed marbles are easy to identify... you just need to study your Bakugan. That's why it might be helpful if this site had pictures of what each character type looked like closed.

These comments are all pretty much in agreement with my thoughts and experience. When I first started hunting (a few weeks before Christmas) I wished for a place to see photos with names, including photos of closed ones. A list of possible G powers would be icing on the cake.I never found one so I started thinking about building one myself. Then I found this site, which at least gave names and some photos. In the mean time I got a lot of Bakugan (around 135 at last count) and started compiling them into a spreadsheet -- which meant a lot of time poring over details like exterior patterns and where the lines and joints are. So by the time I finished my "inventory" I was also at the point where I could identify just about any Bakugan even when closed. (Except the five or so -- now down to two -- that I don't actually own.)I agree that photos of closed marbles would be a nice addition to the main pages of the site.If others think a "database" or something with lists of possible G powers for different marbles would be nice, I'd be happy to build something, or add onto the code that Admin got from his hired coder, or whatever. I don't really have strong feelings about it -- mostly I just saw a need for something that would be useful to me, so I thought I might as well build it. But I haven't yet =)

I'm excited for the new clips, but I wonder what G's the bakugan are. I already have two Ventus Limulus and too many Diablo Preyas in general.

I saw all the new clips at my Target today (including the one that isn't shown in the photo, Subterra Blade Tigrerra). The g-power of all 6 was 580.

I may be wrong, but I assume Admin is talking about the “database of Bakugan marbles” that Nimrod98 and I talk about at the bottom of this thread:http://forum.bakuganbuzz.com/index.php?topic=138.0I've done some brainstorming and early design work on it, and in a week or so when my real job slows down a bit I'll be back at it some more (hopefully Nimrod98 will have some time then too =)What I personally have in mind is something to help people:

    • identify Bakugan marbles, especially one of the "hidden" ones such as in starter or battle packs
    • build a comprehensive list of g-powers that are found on various marble colors/types -- so you have a pretty good idea of what you'll get at the store even if the marble has a sticker covering the g-power.
    • Let people create their own "list of Bakugan" similar to the "Bakugan Marble Collections" topic in this site -- so you could have your own url and just link to that for people to see your collection.
    • ...plus some other ideas that aren't quite as thoroughly thought out yet

So first of all, even though I picked the name “Bakudad” as my nickname, I suppose I should clarify that I'm not connected in any way to “BakuganMom” =)Although ironically, our stories sound very similar. I got interested in Bakugan when I started looking for some Bakugan for my kids before Christmas, and since it was hard to figure out which was which and which ones my kids would like, I did a lot of the same things -- I looked around online (that's how I found this site), I regularly searched my local stores, etc.Pretty soon I wanted to know everything I could about Bakugan. Like you I've compiled a spreadsheet of the different Bakugan I've found, the different package and series types, etc. -- since I have gotten some duplicates accidentally. Although admittedly I rarely actually take my kids to the stores, since they get pretty fussy about wanting a new toy when we're looking at toys at a store. Instead I buy them and store them in a closet, and when my kids have earned money they can buy them from me instead of the store.Like Nimrod98, I also live in northern California. I live in the SF Bay Area, in the Dublin/Pleasanton/Livermore "Tri-Valley" area. Just out of curiosity, do you mind sharing the location of the Wal-Mart where you found so many packs of Bakugan?
