Here's a starting sketch… I kinda like it, I went through a few designs before this. The cape/jacket folds back like Helix's tail to make room for the Gear. There even seems to be room to fit a Special Attack in there…

Yeah, me too. But I like this better. Instead of popping out, it recedes as if you can stick your hand through the screen; its like the game screen becomes a box with the objects at different levels.

Atop Mount Silver, Red is still in his everlasting-wait for a worthy Trainer. He feels strange, though, as if something is wrong. He can almost hear the sounds of screaming in the distance, to the far West. The Whirl Islands…He sends out Pikachu, hoping for some reassurance. "Pi.. Pika..." Pikachu seems disturbed and turned West. That settled it. Red sent out Lapras and set westward, to find the cause of the disturbances of the Whirl Islands.Several days later, he arrived in Cianwood City. The whole area was destroyed, as if Judgement was used on the entire city. No people were walking about, half the city was flooded and most of the building were destroyed. As Red turned towards the sea, he noticed the giant red storm clouds above the area, and he noticed a very large whirlpool off in the distance. He also noticed a ship, and since it was the only sign of life he could see, he went to it.As he approached the ship, the people on it sent him a rope to climb up. "What's happened to Cianwood and the Whirl Islands?", Red asked while returning Lapras.

THIS IS AMAZINGI'm also glad you mention me, but mainly I'm amazed by this. I love the mini-story/description, and the style. It fits his personality perfectly. Mind if I help design a ball form?Also, I suggest making the Gear more like an upgraded Falconfly. Very different, but still based on it(I really like Falconfly's overall look).

Development kits containing a beta version of the DS's successor have apparently been sent out to several video game companies so that they can begin learning about the system. According to CVG, the Pokemon Company was one of the first to receive it, which isn't surprising considering the company is directly a part of Nintendo. The "DS2" is rumored to have a motion-sensing function, similar to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Rumor also has it that Nintendo plans to release the system by the end of this year or early 2011, which could mean we will see the remake of the next generation games on it. Nothing is confirmed for sure right now, but we might find out more information next week when Nintendo holds their media conference in San Francisco!
