It clearly says in the rules for Bakugan Traps that they have to be played at the beginning of a battle. So you just ruined that by using an ability card first. Like I said before. And if you want proof, ErnieB even said it himself.

Um? I don't follow. When there are no gate cards on the field, we both set down another gate card onto the field. So I set down my gate card. And I was last to roll so its your turn to roll, after you set down your gate card.
