LOL, just keep doing it until it goes smoothly. Sometimes they wind the springs to tight. You just need to soften the metal is all.

OK, well first thing. Open and close him like a billion times.And then when he's in the closed position, hold his bottom half and then with your other hand turn the top part left to right a couple of times. Not too hard, you dont want to break him, but just enough to loosen up his springs.Repeat as many times as needed. I've had to do it too a couple too.

Well, I would say loosen up the springs, but that's tricky business. You might just try to open and close him repeatedly. And when he's closed, swivel his top part slightly back and forth so that it loosens the springs a smidgen.
