No, it's a simple ploy to keep people buying. The competitive players who buy bakugan for brawling want to keep up with the highest gs, not caring about their favorite, so they increase the Gs with each set to keep the players coming back for more.

Not as much so as Riki. His prevents the opponent from winning the gate to begin with, whereas V2 (shoulda' been a V-8) keeps your opponents score the same, but I still see what you're getting at.
