whatever happened to the good stuff? im talking about the golden age of children the 90s even the 80s what went wrong? all i see todays is teens and tweens and i cant tell if thigns are slipping or getting worse. back when i was a child the shows i watched kept me amused they had quality and were enjoyable so much the whole family watched it. but now all i see is a shadow of the former stations such as cartoon network, nickelodeon and disney. i look back and i feel blessed knowing i lived in a time where popularity wasnt a big deal but fun was. and i feel sorry that the childhoods of so many childrens have been desecreted by the tyranny known as this generation. i look on disney and all i see is bullcrap. cartoon network shows live action and nickelodeon focuses on only 2 shows. i feel as though my memorys are being destroyed bit by bit and the pureness known AS a childhood is becoming more and more fragile. please discuss the pros and cons of this generation and pray the 10s will be better

So true. Everything is all about popularity at school now. At my school, people call you stupid for having fun, people call you a nerd for saying something that they didn't know and those people are always the “popular” people. I say “popular” because some of the time they are people I haven't even met before and I have been in the same school district my whole life. It just doesn't seem right.

true that! I can't say one word without saying to some people “it's who i wanna be and nothing you say or do can change it” or “girly interests are girly” –; i think those words are smacked into my brain now.

Oh, and another thing is the name calling at my school. (inb4 home-school) I've Atheist all my life and right when I hit 7th grade, people started making fun of me for it. And the most recent name I have been called for being Atheist is, conveniently my name is Shea, Sheatheist. The last sound of my name is a long 'a' sound so it fits perfectly with the long 'a' sound in 'atheist'.

Because to me, the whole 'God' story doesn't make sense. But on the other hand, evolution is scientifically proven. inb4 religion discussion.

No religion please, guys. Especially you, NP, since you started it.Anyways, sometimes I wish people could accept that not everyone is exactly the same. Making fun of someone for having different interests is low, just absolutely low. To some people, maturity is based off of being able to take other's perspectives. That involves seeing that they like different things than them. For example, there is this sophomore in my school. MAJOR Naruto fan. He's made fun of on a daily basis because of it.Heck, just last week, he had to go get stitches in his face because a senior punched him in the face, JUST because he liked Naruto. Even though I hate the series, I would never DREAM of doing any physical harm to any human being, unless they absolutely deserved it (which he sure as heck didn't). Most people are still laughing about it to this day. I was there when he punched him, and I was about ready to tear him apart (if, of course, I wasn't a 5' freshman and he wasn't an almost 7' senior). Doing physical harm to someone is low beyond low.

This is so true. Whenever me and my sister(now 19) want to hang around her place. We turn on the tv, and then it's like ” Yea want to go out to the mall or something?” 10 minutes later. Nothing is on TV these days. I'm glad I don't watch alot of it anymore. *hold's Doctor Who boxset in arms*

People who grew up in the 70s say this about the 80s, people who grew up in the 80s say this about the 90s, and of course people who grew up in the 90s say this about the newest generation

STD and Esk, that is exactly why I don't tell anyone I like Bakugan. I really hate the “popularity” thing in middle school. I remember the days of elementary school when you could actually express your feelings without being afraid of people making fun of you. The only thing I hate more than popular people who are jerks are people who think they are cool and act like the popular people and make fun of everyone, when in reality nobody likes them. The middle school social heirarchy is EXTREMELY ironic sometimes. The people who make fun of others really have no right, since they have nothing better to do than make fun of the said people. Oh well, I just figure all of the slackers who think they are popular because of it will get what they deserve in high school, possibly college and afterwards when they get terrible grades and a bad job.
