Seeing Agent Spectres post about collecting pokemon for 10 years got me thinking about all of things i have collected in my “adult” years ( or have “pushed” onto my children to collect/play with muahahaha ). And thinking about it they all have one thing in common….. small size. Theres just something cool to me about a smaller than normal size of something. When i was very young i collected “M.U.S.C.L.E.” men. even tried to get my son into the newer ones released a few years ago. The “Homies” from the gumball machines were pretty cool for my older son and i to collect back a few years.
I used to collect Magic the gathering cards, followed by pokemon and then for a short while the Harry Potter cards. Why? Cause my friends were playing them… It's the peer mentality, if someone has it, you gotta have it too!!
i didnt even include cards…. from sports cards ( which i still ocassionally purchase to keep/collect ) to all the different collectible card games ( i got into my first one – Magic back when the revised edition just came out 94-95 i believe? ) And i know this isnt really a bakugan related
lol, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's a sucker for the small collectibles and technically small children's toys. I guess it's because they are unique, you know? and Super Deformed characters are always awesome too.

I got into it around the same time. I was pretty much captivated by Ice Age. I stopped keeping up on magic around the Kamigawa sets, but my favorite expansion ever was Torment back in '02.Anyway, I collect WAY too much stuff. Not to mention I'm an awful pack rat, as well as loving to play with my toys but also having boxed collections because they just look so pretty, esp when a line has an exceptionally good packaging design. My most treasured collection is probably all of my Cartoon Network stuff... most of which is promo crap I've collected through the years. My most beloved collections are of Sheep in the Big City and Megas XLR... both of which got little to no merch and were just about my favorite shows. I still collect lots of CN stuff, whatever in house studio promos I can get my little hands on. In general for licenses I collect Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Star Wars, Transformers, Godzilla, Little Shop of Horrors, The Haunted Mansion, Men in Black, The Venture Bros., Phoenix Wright, Naruto, Death Note, Bakugan, and Ben 10.I used to collect Mighty Max, The Simpsons, The Matrix, Magic the Gathering, TMNT, Crazy Bones, Hot Wheels, Spawn, Harry Potter, Darkwing Duck, and Osmosis Jones. All sorts of weird and varied stuff, right? Did I mention I collect comics? Recently just more independent stuff and whatever CN puts out through DC, but I have like ... tons of oldish comics, I don't even remember what they are or where they are. Sometimes there's just a single character I like to collect... Bowser, The Green Goblin, Two-Face, Lord Farquaad, General Grievous, Dr. Drakken, L...My most notorious collection is probably my Ben 10 collection though it's the first line where I ever actually cared about getting EVERYTHING... and multiples of those things. Then take that and pair it with my obsessive single character collecting. Given that I've never collected a WHOLE line before, when my favorite character came out, I basically had to compensate by buying 30-50 of the same figure depending on the size and how many I could find. I'm dead serious.
As a kid I liked the M.U.S.C.L.E. things, too. Funny, Bakugan has really made me remember those. I also had quite a few Transformers. A fair number of GI Joe and Star Wars figures, too — it's very interesting to see how they've been re-releasing all the “classic” toys the past few years. My younger brothers got into Magic: The Gathering, and although I found it intriguing and even invented a few humorous cards, I never really got into it.I was a big LEGO collector as a youth, although I gave up on that as a teen and my large collection got merged with my younger siblings' so now my youngest brother "owns" it all.LEGO was the first toy I started collecting as an adult. I started when my oldest son was just barely 2 -- I was at a yard sale and a teenager was selling off pretty much his entire LEGO collection. I stopped by at the end and offered to buy everything that was left for $60. I made a serious killing on LEGO that day.In spite of the suggested age, I started playing with them with my son a few months later. To my surprise he picked up on LEGO building very quickly. He started with us building models together, and gradually I had to give him less and less help. He'd usually build a model and almost immediately tear off parts of it (wings, cockpit, or whatever) and modify or rebuild the model with replacement parts. By the time he was four he was building original models that were far more interesting than anything I could come up with. My other two children have pretty much followed the same path.As far as other "collecting" goes, in my early twenties I got into serious photography, so I've built up quite a collection of cameras, lenses, flashes, tripods, bags, etc. Trust me, compared to digital photography, Bakugan is a dirt cheap hobby -- at this point any new gear I would buy that's an improvement over what I currently own would cost at least $2000 (and most things I "want" cost more in the $5000+ range). Suffice it to say I don't buy new photo gear nearly as often as I buy Bakugan. There are definitely limits to my budget =)I love photography as a creative outlet, perhaps because I'm not actually very "creative" in the sense of being able to conceive of entirely new ideas. Instead I'm a "tinkerer" or "improver" -- I'm always (mostly subconsciously) looking at things, situations, etc. -- and figuring out ways to change them and make them better. And often I'm making connections between ideas and influences from different sources. But I don't think I ever come up with something that's truly an original thought or visualization. So I think I like photography because it allows me to explore and be creative visually, but it's not a "completely original" type of art. Instead of starting with a blank canvas, you're always starting with something that exists in reality, and (in my case) trying to capture something interesting or beautiful about it, or tell a story about it, and preserve that reality. (I'm not really big into extreme image manipulation, as you can probably tell.)
Big list here…
Big list here...
Bakugan, even if I think the show is beyond stupid and the way the SpinMaster is aproaching the whole thing is rather retarded, reminds me of the early days of Pokemon in American. But the difference now? I wasn't attracted to it cause it was the “thing” or because I thought the show was “awesome”. It's because of some creature desings and the awesome game concept of the marble turning monsters. I've always collected stuff, as a kid I collected dinosaurs. My collection consisted mostly of Jurassic Park merch. I loved how my dad always got me a new dino out of nowhere..I blame him for my toy likeings even if he criticizes me. He and my grandpa refer to my collections as pokemons...-_-'After my dino obssession Digimon came in! I had everything Bandai had for it's american line. I regret letting those get thrown out! T.T My collection facination went oberdrive when Zoids hit america in 2001, I fell in love with the anime series (Chaotic Century, Guardian Force and New Century). I then started joining online Zoid communities and learned of the extensive history of the franchise and about the awesome model kits. Things where never the same again....I even ended up buying Zoids long term Zoiders that started collecting in the 80's hadn't been able to get their hands on!As I started collecting Zoids everytime I saw a cool looking toy I bought it (mostly dinosaurs, wolf plushies, pokemon and dragons). Fast forward to 2007, when unfortunately the Zoids line had completley vanished from the americas and I was a high school senior with no sense of direction. Even since Ben 10 premiered around '05 I knew it was something special and I admired and respected the creative concept of it. When one day I decided to start watching the show and saw a DNA BenWolf at Kmart I was hooked...now I have a decently crazy collection wich I'm proud of. Now summer 2008..Star Wars has always been something I've been fond of, but was to scare to dive into the world of SW Collecting cause I was afraid of getting obsessive. It happened before, three years earlier I bought a whole bunch of SW figs...and they ended up dying. Luckily I didn't delve in to deep. But I was scared of that happening again and the fact that it'd be one step closer to going hungry. But ya know what, getting into SW was one of the best things I've done cause I've met alot of awesome people who understand me..plus they're so much fun. =)My main collections are Ben 10, Zoids and Star Wars (and DragonBall, Pokemon and Mario if I count my bro's since they're mixed up with mine at MY house). And hopefully Secret Saturdays soon too..those toys are looking so sweet..and I don't want to miss the chance like I did with Swat Kats and Xiaolin Showdown. >.<

A yes... Zoids..... I had them when i was a kid back in the 80's. If i remember correctly
Transformers i guess was a colection, but now has payed some bills of mine in the past, so its an “investment”pokemon tcg i was big into and have tons of cards, they arent worth as much now because the push for new sets, but they are still a collecter item...i used to collect pencels and i have a box full of them.i dont collect much of anyhing now, as its too costly and money is better spent on bills. i look at what i have as possibe things i could sell latter on for money, so i dont regret collecting them, but i feel its time to wind down on buying things for me.
i used to collect draco magnets for 2 reasons:1. super cheap! 2.free lollipop!
when I moved to Japan, I noticed that the toys were smaller, probably do to space. Also their vending machine toys were backed by Bandai one of the biggest toy companies there. So after experiencing that I am hooked on small toys. When Transformers Armada came out I went crazy for minicons. But they have pretty much stopped or near stopped that. So I gave Bakugan a try. Man I am so glad.I'm not a hardcore collector. I just get the ones that I think have good designs.
Transformers are my main obsession, mainly Optimus Prime.

I know what you mean it's like a scaled down of transformers. Umm i've collected every digimon game ever created from world 1-dawn and dusk. was in for yugioh for a while, but found myself buying so many cards just for mostly paper and a picture. umm of course i'm still collecting transformers but not as much. I'm also a pack rat so i have random stuff around.
