      I don't think being closed would really help the situation. :-WD 40, like pudder said will help prevent the springs from rusting.You can buy a can at the hardware store to spray on your percival.

      Since this topic was just brought back to life and I have some info on it I figure I may as well post.My cat had actually knocked my ventus Scorpion into her water bowl, and at first the magnet was working really horribly, but now (about maybe 2 weeks or so later) it works perfectly again and I don't see any rust at all. (BTW he was open when he fell in)

      If it's in there for a split second of a bit more to take it out of the water in time it would be fine, just very wet.

      ya but at least your little sis didnt throw your whole maxus helios into the tub i got it out after about 20 secs (i was in another room)
