LOL, just keep doing it until it goes smoothly. Sometimes they wind the springs to tight. You just need to soften the metal is all.

Well, just leave it alone for the night. Then try again tomorrow. Also, you might want to try soaking it in VERY hot water. That will get the metal to soften long enough, so that when you pull it out of the water, hold it to the left, then let it soak again, the hold it to the right. Open and close it a few times. Then get your mom's hair dryer or something that blows COOL air to dry it in place.
