Some people can legitly say they made confuzzled up but its typically from the internet.EV = Effort Value. Every time you defeat any Pokemon (Except Wi-Fi/Local battling and I think Battle Tower) you get certain EVs that that Pokemon gives. The most common being; Starly (speed), Magikarp (speed), Bidoof (HP), Shellos (HP), Machop (Attack), Geodude/Onix (I forget) [Defense], Tentacool (Special Defense), and my favorite Gastly (Special Attack)Everytime you defeat one of those POkemon (or any for that matter) you get EV points. For every 4 EV points (in a specific stat) you recieve youget +1 stat bonus when you level up. Sometimes these boosts are spread out, sometimes they aren't (I've had +54[?] Special Attack to my Arceus when it leveled up once) you can put up to 510 EV points TOTAL to a Pokemon but only 255 can be given to any one stat. Its smarter to give only 252 EVs max to a stat, however as you only get the extra point(s) from 4 EVs so 252 is the highest you can go without wasting any points (as 255 is no divisible by 4)Most of the time the EVs are spread into only two stats for 252 EV points each then given to another stat (typically HP) for the last 6 (though only 4 are needed)Overall they power up your Pokemon to give it better statsIV time (try to keep up)Each Pokemon starts with set IVs which is a number of 1-31. The numbers are assigned to each stat that a Pokemon has (Attack, Defense, HP, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defese) and as mentioned earlier, the higher the IV for each stat, the stronger that Pokemon will be IN that stat. IV breeding is a complex process that I'm not explaining so you can go ask Stronger over there.Pokemon in competitive play typically have "titles" attached to them such as Physical Sweeper, Mixed Sweeper, Special Sweeper, Physical Wall(?), and Special Wall. I dunno if there are anymore. Anyways here is what each does.A Physical Sweeper is a Pokemon with very high attack that can literally keep sweeping over every Pokemon that comes by OHKOing them. They TYPICALLY have high speed, but sometimes are boosted it up VIA Baton Pass, and Item, or a move such as Rock Polish or Agility. Unfortunately these Pokemon typically have low defense stats.A Special Sweeper is the same thing as a physical one except it specializes in Special Attacks rather than physical attacks.A mixed sweeper does both Physical and SPecial Sweeping, but since it isn't an expert in either, it doesn't typically mean its better, though it covers a bit more in case it runs into one of the two walls.A wall Pokemon is a pokemon with a high Defense (or Special Defense) stat that basically stops sweepers from, well Sweeping. Most of them are usually packed with a healing move or leftovers and a status inflicting move (like Toxic and Thunder Wave) to stop sweepers in their tracks and block their punches. Special Walls have high special defense, while Physical Walls have high Defense. Then there is Shuckle who has high of both but just sucks so we ignore him.Hope that makes sense

There are Pokemon IV calculators all over the web. Unfortunately if your Pokemon ar already trained then you'll have to know their EVs to get the correct amount. Also I forgot to mention, you know those people who give your POkemon effort ribbons? They only give them to your Pokemon when their stats are maxed out (EV wise) so thats how you'll know if they're EVs are full if you lost track.MORE ALSOYou can't determine IVs with low level Pokemon, I typically raise mine to about level 20 (THROUGH DAYCARE) to get them up there and then check so that its more accurate. There's also IV Batlting where you'll take your little Level 1's and play Wi-Fi with another player to check their stats (since theyll be Level 100 in battle) then plug THOSE into the IV calculator to get their IVs. Glad to help!

Patrol, instead of Shellos, kill Bidoof for HP EV's more common and easier. And yeah, I still don't get the IV thing. If everything is randomly transfered. How am I going to get at least 5 of the stats with 31 IV's. Anyway, it's so true. Sweepers have such a low defense. Like my Gengar. One Psychic Attack with OHKO the Gengar. Then I bring in Garchomp as a revenge killer though. It always depend, but it's so true.

I just snatched 2 of the little guys. Eeeh.. Zap Plates.Since this seems to be the subject now I might as well ask.. Are the EVs distributed when the EXP is or after the battle?

After the battle is over. Also since 252 is such a large number to get to. If you guys have atleast 16 bp, you can go to the battle tower prizes and get the power items. Each power item gives you +4 Ev's for every battle you defeat, The items only work on one specific stat at a time, so you may want to choose a major stat first, like speed. You have to equip it to your pokemon. Like a power lens will give me +4 Sp. Atk EV's when I battle a gastly.

So you get a combined total of 3 IV's from the 2 parents. The rest is randomly generated from 1-31. Which means without good parents, your chances of getting 5 stats with 31 IV's will be very slim. Its already a pretty slim chance just getting 3 and 4 31 IV stats.

I knew I forgot sdomething. Ok so there are 3 ways to boost the amount of EVs you can get. All the Pokemon I listed for those EV training methods only give 1 EV in each stats (Unless you find Haunter and Gengar in Old Chateu with Gastly, which isn't exactly uncommon) so how do we speed things up?Macho Brace- Alright so we know about the seemingly useless item called the Macho brace which "Raises stat growth but lowers speed" what they mean is that you get more EVs from each Pokemon. Now I might need to be corrected on this but IIRC the Macho Brace DOUBLES the amount of points you get from each Pokemon (or it gives +2, I forget)Then there are items from the Battle Tower prize place called Power Items (Power Lens and all that) these will add +4 EVs to each Pokemon you defeat, so now Gastly gives you 5 EVs (Again, I think, I haven't done this in forever) However the drawback is that each Power Item only works for one specific stat, unlike the Macho brace which works for all of them.Lastly there is Pokerus, yes the Pokemon AIDS. When a Pokemon has Pokerus they will have the same effect as having a Macho Brace. So why not use the Macho Brace? Well Pokerus isn't an item, so you can still put on the Macho Brace or a POwer Item thus meaning you can get a Ghastly up to 8 EVs per defeat.YAY!

I have a Pikachu that has 3 31 IV's, but I just caught it..... Lucky much, but that's the only highest I have. Okay thanks Better./ Stronger...... It's going to take forever to get this to work out.And Patrol, you can get up to 10 EV's per Pokemon you defeat if your talking about the basic ones. With PokeRUS.AIDS...... and a Power item. It's (1+4)2=10.

I thought that too but for some reason I keep thinking the highest it goes is 8...OH and I forgot about the steroids (vitamins). You know your Protein, Zinc, Carbos, ect? Yeah well giving those to a Pokemon will raise the stat they correspond with up 10EVs however you can only give 10 of any vitamin to a Pokemon (or 51 total, if you're crazy) so you can give your Pokemon 10 proteins to raise its attack EVs by 100 but then you'll have to do the (probable) 152 on your own with your Machops or whoever you prefer

i got PKRS before i really knew about EV training, and also coincidentally I set battle style to set by accident, and trained only my starter…. so i basically ruined my chances of EV training it properly… unless i get some berries and fix it up, but i'd rather move on…anyone got a suggestion for training? i feel like hacking.
