Depends what you're looking for. Full keyboard, touchscreen, flip, slide, etc. But I would highly recommend a BlackBerry if you want a full keyboard.

If verizon, try a blackberry curve or something that' been out for a while. I hear the Droid is awesomeness, but it's been out for not so long, so it may have soe glitches like the BBS. My parents had a BBS and they had to replace their phone multiple times until they decided to get a curve.

Eye've got an AT&T Pantech Matrix.Got a full keyboard AND a normal phone number pad. Keyboard slides out of the side, number pad out of the bottom.So, get that if ya want.

I saw that on the AT&T website but it sayed like 300 bucks and my mom wont pay that much

I strongly suggest the envy touch. I have the envy 2 and can't wait till i get my new contract so i can get it.
