Since my phone's not wanting to send pics to my computer, this will be a text only review, on Rahkshi. It will follow BZP's official review guidlines.PresentationFrom the design of the box to the instruction manual, these are the first things you see before building the set.Rahkshi's canister is medium height, approximately the same height as the Toa Mata's canisters. It has a bright, Mata-yellow canister lid. On top of the canister is the layout for the Valley of the Maze, better known as the original Skrall's shield design. The canister itself is solid black, with a sticker on the front and back (that overlaps onto the lid to seal it shut. I had to use a pocket knife to open mine), displaying on the front some nice box art, an advertizement for the golden armor pieces included in each Stars set, the set info (age restriction (labeled as ages 6-16), set number (7138), and piece count (18)). At the top of the front is the word "BIONICLE", with a small golden "STARS" under the right hand side, and a white "Rahkshi" under the left hand side. The back shows off all the set's golden armor pieces, and how they may be attached to the Tahu set (Rahkshi appears to have Tahu's shield). It also shows his Kanoka code (now renamed as the B.I.O. Code (his is 1O1R47 by the way)), instructions on how to store Rahkshi in his canister, and all the legal junk down at the bottom.BuildingHalf the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it?Rahkshi's build (as well as all the other Star's builds) are reminiscent of the builds of the Agori of '09 and the Av-Matoran of '08, with a slight adjustment to accommodate the headpiece. I hope BZP will forgive me for stealing their picture, but I simply HAVE to show you how weird the new headpiece is:
That's right. They took a normal Rahkshi head, spine, and back spikes and fused them all into one rubbery monstrosity. It looked HORRIBLE when I first saw it, but I have grown to like it. While it is rubber, it's a very hard rubber, that feels almost like normal plastic. So huzzah! Set DesignNow that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here.Rahkshi is, basically put, a buffed up Keet-orange Agori/Av-Matoran with a Rahkshi head and staff. The build is IDENTICAL to the normal Agori/Av-Matoran build, just with an extra limb added to the chest and a connector attached to the back, so the head may be attached (the actual head it's self is attached to the body via a translucent orange socket joint piece, akin to the original Rahkshi). THe only new piece is the new head piece, although the Keet-orange Shadow Matoran feet and translucent orange new socket joint are new colors for said pieces. As is thr new gold color for the included Gahlok-kal shield that is used for Tahu (or, as he's known with his gold armor, "The Golden Bionicle"'s shield. This shield is not used anywhere in the Rahkshi set. PlayabilityThe other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with? While it does lack the ball-jointed knees and gear-activated torso movement, the new Rahkshi is just as fun to mess around with, if not more fun, than the old Rahkshi. He's got normal Av-Matoran/Agori posability, but this does not restrict him at all. He can still make al sorts of awesome poses! He is also very stable, you will not have any balance problems with this guy. I was able to get him to stand on one foot very easily, and I am the last one you want to get your Bionicle figures balanced XD. A personal favorite pose of mine is (again, forgive me for borrowing BZP's pics):
He just looks like he's about to attack you any second in that pose! Rahkshi is by far my favorite of the Stars to mess around with as far as playability goes.Final ThoughtsOnce it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it?Let's make a pros and cons list of him:Pros:-He's a Rahkshi! They were very loved by fans-Most unique build of the Stars-New headpiece, as well as new colors for the feet and under-head-Very posable, even if he lacks mid-limb joints, like knees and elbows-A yellow Rahkshi! We finally have more than just red, blue, white, black, brown, and green Rahkshi made as a set.Cons:-7 dollars for 18 pieces. Nu-uh, not a very good price.-Like I said, no elbow or knee joints. -Light piping for the eyes doesn't work at all unless you point the bottom of his head at the light source, which is next to impossible to do while not being upside down most of the time.As you can see, the pros do outnumber the cons. So, is this a good set? Depends on your personal tastes. I do HIGHLY recomend this set, over any of the other 5 Stars (even if I dont have one). So, if you have about 8 or 9 bucks and you see one, by all means GET IT! The lack of pieces isnt worth it, but the figure itself DEFINATELY is.Expect more soon...
