i still think amaratsu Looks more Alike, Because the Gnoll stands of To legs, and carrys around Axes and all that(ive played Dungeons and Dragons BTW)
Then there's this,Plus, Amaterasu is the Sun goddess from Japanese mythology, and does not traditionally appear as a canine... I assume you're referring to when she was reincarnated as a wolf in that game Okami.

Sorry if this has been said but Hydranoid:There was a dragon-like Greek monster named Hydra. If you cut it's head off, two more will grow. The extra heads: Sound familiar?
