Apollo is the Roman name for the sun god, who was called Helios by the Greeks.Lars Lion is repeatedly said to represent Aphrodite, but being a Light warrior and an archer, she has more in common with Artemis the Moon Goddess of the Hunt. Most of the mythology that Bakugan is based on is probably going to come from Japan, at least among the original series bakugan. Frosch the legendary Aquos warrior is a frog because of the Japanese legend of how the croaking of frogs is what brings the rain.Skyress is based on the Phoenix, which in Chinese/Japanese legend is known as Houou and doesn't necessarily have to involve flames.Dragons represent the natural forces and elements, which is why the most important battles in the series tend to occur between draconic bakugan, deciding the fate of the multiverse. The attributes themselves represent the four elements used in pagan beliefs nearly worldwide: Fire, Earth, Wind/Air, and Water. They represent the four directions: South, North, East, and West, respectively. The remaining two, Haos and Darkus, are non-traditional elements that also have directions: Light is upward and Darkness is downward.Adding on to that...There was an episode of the first season of the anime where Dan and Runo battled two magicians. The Japanese title for this episode was Tiger and Dragon. The tiger and dragon represent opposing forces in Buddhist cosmology, typically a practical mentality versus a free-spirited one (think about how often Runo and Dan used to fight). In the end, Runo and Dan ended up as a couple, enforcing the idea by the end of the series that everything had come back to balance and order.Gorem is a Golem. In the Japanese language, there is no letter L, so anything with an L tends to replace it with an R. Golem, Gorem. They are earthen warriors, typically gigantic, which are summoned out of the ground to come to one's aid. More practical ones are simply put together out of mud and clay and are enchanted to guard and protect a person or place.Preyas... is basically a chameleon. He may be Aquos because of how water is believed to be mutable and take on many forms (steam, liquid, ice, etc.)
