Cyndaquill, you can get a wooper early on which covers water, plus it's part ground so grass is the only super-effective type, and chickorita isn't good until it's a [insert chickorita's last evolution here].

Meganium./I used to chose either Cyndiquil or Chikorita in Silver, but I found Chikorita to be awesome. (Heck, I played Gold without evolving it :V)

That's the same thing I did when I was a kid in my Silver, then my Crystal. Don't remember it working out for me though. Or did it.... Anyway, you should start with the Chikorita, cause it's the best out of all three of them and you'll find it a fun challenge through out the game.

Three reasons why cyndiquil is best;1. starting off with chikorita is bad (because of chikorita's poor defence)2. using totodile gets u through the game to easy (if u know how to train)3. cyndaquil has a reasonable defence and attack power.but I just say cyndaquil

Chikorita's defense are better than others what are you blabbing off about? It's just the match ups in the Johto region.

Exactly, the match ups for Chikorita are ridiculous. That's what makes it fun.
