Nintendo has issued a press release revealing the tentative name of the DS's successor: the Nintendo 3DS. As its name indicates, the new handheld system will support 3D gameplay, but notably without the need to wear 3D glasses; apparently, it will simulate an illusion of depth using a built-in sensor that follows your head's movement, though this is currently unconfirmed. The 3DS will also support backwards compatibility with older DS and DSi titles. More details regarding the system will be revealed at the E3 convention on June 15th, and according to Nintendo, the 3DS will see an official Japanese release before March 2011. You really shouldn't be buying a handheld game system for its browser capabilities.I've seen this tech in use on PC shooters like TF2 through third-party software. It wasn't used for 3D graphics, but it let you tilt your view, aim down the sites of guns, turn around, peak around corners, all with just doing natural movements with your head. Was pretty sweet.

When my mom borrowed my laptop I was bored beyond belief because I couldn't play on Kongregate or watch youtube videos. Although I could read some MangaFox, it didn't really help. I'm just saying it would be nice. Some sort of weather forecast would be great as well.Another great feature would be some old school games. Free games. Already downloaded on it. Along those lines, I'm too poor to actually buy Nintendo points or the like. >

The funy thing is, I'll probably get one of these, only to ed up not really using ay of the new stuff… I'd be playing 2D Sidescrollers :VAlso I have't heard of that TF2 mod...Then agai I don't keep up with any TF2 anythig :V

Maybe an original game that was meant to preview this unconfirmed 3D thing. That would be pretty good. I wouldn't want Solitaire or Mine Sweeper on there though. D:Maybe the it can record video.. Hmmm... I can't really throw any other ideas at the moment. Can't wait for June 15th or the 2 year long anticipation.

I'm to the point that pokemon designs are getting old now. I'd only buy the next game if the field and/or battle screen is in 3d… Can't wait for E3. Two months... o/

Development kits containing a beta version of the DS's successor have apparently been sent out to several video game companies so that they can begin learning about the system. According to CVG, the Pokemon Company was one of the first to receive it, which isn't surprising considering the company is directly a part of Nintendo. The "DS2" is rumored to have a motion-sensing function, similar to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Rumor also has it that Nintendo plans to release the system by the end of this year or early 2011, which could mean we will see the remake of the next generation games on it. Nothing is confirmed for sure right now, but we might find out more information next week when Nintendo holds their media conference in San Francisco!

They didn't give the DSi enough time. It was (is) great, live with that success for the time being. Now I have to waste a second staright Christmas on another DS.

I'll only upgrade when my system breaks. To buy it right when it comes out is just a waste I think. If a Pokemon/Naruto game comes out right then, yeah, I'll buy it but other than that I'll just wait for a deal.
