February 23, 2009 - Activision has revealed to IGN that it has acquired the rights to produce videogames based on the card game and animated television series Bakugan.

The games, in development at Japanese development studio NOW Productions, are being prepped for the fall of 2009 and will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 2.

Bakugan is a successful cartoon airing on Cartoon Network in the states and on Teletoon in Canada, and it's also a card game that's been awarded Toy of the Year by The Toy Industry Association.

"Bakugan's success in 2008 speaks for itself and we're confident it will be even bigger in 2009," said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. "It is our goal to expand this proven property in a way that both fans and gamers will love."

I received a bootleg bakugan off of ebay. i thought i would share my finds with others so hopefully you wont fall prey to these. This one came from a seller on ebay whose id is "pureorangelife". It was a sealed booster ( series 1 Griffon ) and the picture on ebay was pretty small and didnt alert me to anything being wrong. When i received it the packaging was actually pretty good looking with no real give aways. However the Bakugan itself was a dead giveaway once i saw it in person. Below is a video of the findings of the bakugan and card to better help you see the differences.

For those hardcore collectors, you will have a tough time collecting all of the different card sets. There are the series 1 card set, the 1-15a ( which is a hard one to get ), the 1-48, the 1-48b, 1-48c and the 1-48d. Plus there are also promo cards.

A little known variation exists for the 1-15a and 1-48 card sets. The early versions did NOT include the french translation on the cards. They later were changed and the translation was added to these sets and all future sets. So to truly have all of the sets you will need to find a 1-15a and a 1-48 with and without the french translation.

Below you can see the difference in the layout of the card and see the two versions.
