Last checked November 6, 2026. We only list facts Spin Master or major trade press have confirmed. Rumors without a company statement stay out.
If you grew up rolling Bakugan across a Gate Card in 2008, the headline still hits weird: there is a live-action Bakugan feature film in development. Spin Master said so on February 6, 2025. Brad Peyton is attached to direct, write, and produce. Lindsay Harbert is co-writing the screenplay with him for Spin Master Entertainment.
That is the core of what we know. Everything else fans ask about — cast, release year, which era of the story it adapts — has not been announced. This page is the short, honest tracker we will keep updating when real news lands.

The official announcement
On February 6, 2025, Spin Master Corp. announced it is developing a live-action Bakugan feature film. The company’s own press release names Brad Peyton as signed on to direct, write, and produce, with Peyton and Lindsay Harbert collaborating with Spin Master Entertainment on the screenplay.
Spin Master framed Bakugan as a multi-generational franchise: toys that have generated over $1 billion in sales worldwide since the 2007 launch, anime that has aired globally (nearly 300 episodes co-produced by Spin Master Entertainment), digital content, and a card game. Jennifer Dodge, President of Spin Master Entertainment, said the company wants to reimagine Bakugan in live action for the fans who grew up with the first wave and for new audiences.
Bakugan is ready for the film treatment… a film with global appeal that does justice to the unique and epic world that is Bakugan.

Trade outlets including Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, and Anime News Network carried the same day. The facts match the Spin Master / CNW release — no extra cast or date slipped into the trades that Spin Master itself did not state.
Who is Brad Peyton?
Peyton is a director, writer, and producer whose recent credits include Netflix’s Atlas (Jennifer Lopez, Simu Liu), Rampage with Dwayne Johnson (about $428 million worldwide per Spin Master’s release), and San Andreas (about $475 million worldwide in the same release). He also co-created Netflix’s Daybreak and directed Frontier. He founded ASAP Entertainment.
None of that tells us what the Bakugan movie will look like. It does tell us Spin Master hired someone who has run large-scale live-action spectacle — useful context for a franchise built on transforming creatures and arena battles.
Lindsay Harbert is named only as Peyton’s screenplay collaborator on this project in the Spin Master materials. No other creative team has been officially confirmed by Spin Master as of our last check.

Not confirmed (do not treat these as fact)
- No cast.
- No release date or year from Spin Master.
- No studio distribution partner announced for Bakugan (Spin Master’s PAW Patrol theatricals are a separate slate item).
- No official plot synopsis, which season or generation it draws from, or whether it starts from a blank-slate story.
- Fan-circulated release years (including a 2028 mention tied to a co-founder’s memoir via community posts) are not Spin Master announcements. We are not treating them as schedule.
If someone shares a casting rumor or a leaked year without a Spin Master or major-trade confirmation, wait. We will.

Where Bakugan stands going into a movie
Bakugan launched in 2007 as the marble-that-snaps-open toy line and Bakugan Battle Brawlers anime. The classic U.S. toy waves ran through New Vestroia and Gundalian Invaders eras collectors still chase for G-Power and Special Attack figures. Spin Master later revived the brand on TV and in toys (Battle Planet in 2019, another series in 2023).
A live-action film is a different bet than another anime season. It has to explain Gate Cards, attributes, and “Bakugan Brawl!” to people who never owned a tin — without boring the adults who still remember which attribute they claimed in middle school. That is why a clean facts page matters more than speculation.

For the toy and game side while we wait on the film, these guides still do the heavy lifting on bakuganbuzz.com:
- Highest G-Power Bakugan — every classic U.S. 700G+ release we catalogued
- Bakugan Attributes and Colors — Pyrus through Ventus, plus Battle Planet factions
- How To Play Bakugan — classic rules in plain English
- Special Attack Bakugan — Super Assault / Special Attack types from the classic line
- Bakugan Dimensions — archive hub for the old online game era

Until then, the honest answer to “when is the Bakugan movie coming out?” is: Spin Master has not said. The honest answer to “who is in it?” is the same.
