Brawlers, it’s been a while.
Bakugan Buzz first opened its doors in 2008, when Dan, Drago and the Battle Brawlers were taking over playgrounds and lunch tables everywhere. For years this site was where we traded news, argued about Gate Cards, and showed off the rarest Bakugan in our collections. Then, around 2012, things went quiet. Life happened. The site sat still.
Fourteen years later, we’re back. A lot of you who grew up flicking Bakugan across a Gate Card are adults now, and plenty of new fans have found the franchise through its newer shows. This site is for both of you.
What happened to Bakugan while we were gone
If you stepped away after the original series, here’s the short version.
Generation 2 (2018–2023). Spin Master and TMS rebooted the franchise with Bakugan: Battle Planet, which premiered in North America in December 2018. It ran five seasons: Battle Planet, Armored Alliance (2020), Geogan Rising (2021), Evolutions (2022) and Legends, the final season, which hit Netflix on March 1, 2023.
Generation 3: the 2023 reboot. In September 2023 a brand-new Bakugan series launched on Netflix and then Disney XD, with a fresh anime style and a new toy line. The headline toys were Special Attack Bakugan: you stack and combine them, rip the cord to spin them onto the metal Gate Card, and pair the character with a Special Attack Card for new stats. The line also included the Battle Arena playset and multi-figure packs like the Battle Pack.
The show wraps up. The reboot ran a single 26-episode season. Its second half arrived on Netflix on January 8, 2024, and no second season followed. Netflix removed the series in January 2025, and it’s now streaming on Kartoon Channel.
The big one: a live-action movie. On February 6, 2025, Spin Master announced it’s developing a live-action Bakugan feature film, with Brad Peyton (San Andreas, Rampage, Atlas) set to direct, write and produce, and Lindsay Harbert collaborating on the screenplay. There’s no release date yet, and you can bet we’ll be watching for every update.
