Fake Bakugan
« on: February 21, 2009, 12:53:38 PM »
Got a fake bakugan the other day from ebay. It was still sealed in the booster( series 1 ) and the packaging looked real. ( even when i got it in person ) The bakugan itself was an easy spot once i had the package in hand. ( i didnt notice from the small pic on ebay ). Once video finishes uploading i will be posting it here as well as making a post on the main site. The sellers ebay id is "pureorangelife"

What do you mean by fake?  Do you mean bootleg?  Just curious... and looking forward to seeing the pics/video.

Wow, that's interesting.  I've yet to see a bootleg one myself.

As for negging the seller, have you explained the situation and asked for a refund?  Not siding with the seller or anything, its just that maybe they didn't even know it was bootleg themselves.  I looked at that seller's other items and it doesn't look like Bakugan is their specialty.  They could have been scammed by the persons that they originally bought the bootlegs from without knowing it.  Just a thought... as a seller myself I tend to look at things from both angles.

IMHO, I'd request a refund from the seller (if you don't want the bootleg... lol) and see what happens.  If they don't want to refund your money then I would think a negative feedback is in order. I'd also think about reporting them to Ebay for selling counterfeit items... even if they didn't mean to do so.  That is to protect any other buyers out there that might not know any better, not to punish the seller.  Based on what I saw in their listings, I'd say selling the bootlegs was probably an honest mistake... ie they didn't know any better.  You never know though.

Thanks for taking the time to post the video... I'll have my eyes peeled next time I'm at the Flea Market...  lol.

lol @ flea market. Yeah i asked for a refund and no response so i filed a dispute with paypal which the seller escalated. Paypal is saying i can return the item at my expense in the same condition i got it and get a refund. So i would be out shipping twice and i cant return the item sealed as i opened it to find out it was a fake so not sure it would work anyways. No biggie, just a couple $$. Will just use it to teach others.

Well in that case I'd definitely let Ebay (and Spinmaster?) know that that seller is selling counterfeit items.   :P

yeah I'm not skilled like you so I just don't buy any baku off ebay.
I REALLY wouldn't be able to tell, so I guess it wouldn't matter.

but I do want my real ones real for some reason.

and if I am gonna get a fake one, which I hope to, I want it to be obviously fake.
like the wrong size, or crazy G# or some crazy new creature!
-I never do trades
-I do not sell

Once i saw it in person it WAS obvious. The colors, wrong attribute symbol and wrong type of screws. Easy to spot.

That's wild.  @_@

That's good to know about the screws.  If nothing else, that should be a good tip-off.  I mean, if I ran into a Bakugan that I don't have, I couldn't be sure that it wasn't supposed to be the colors it is... but those triangle screw-heads are a standard across the board, it seems.

Glad you shared this with us!  ^_^
