5-Card Booster Packs
« on: August 07, 2009, 11:06:18 AM »
In the 5-Card Booster Packs, (the old packaging and not the NV packaging, if they even exist), are the only cards you can get from the boosters HSP cards? Or does it range from the different first few sets of cards? Or both, such as the very first 5-card boosters came with HSP and then later on they got switched to the regular cards? Hopefully someone here knows more about this.

No need to double post. I was just curious cause on the back of the packaging you can see the Bakugan on HSP cards.

Ya, like stated above, no HSP cards.  Think the only way to get HSP cards is from marble boosters/starters clearly labeled "Series 1" on the front.  There's also some cheaper figurine packs that are still floating around my area labeled as "Series 1", thinking about maybe picking them up if they go on clearance or something to see if i can nab a few more HSP cards.

I posted the general contents of these packs in the http://bakuganbuzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2521.0 (http://bakuganbuzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2521.0) thread, but here's the important part:

If you look close at the numbers below the barcode on the back of the pack they will let you know which set the cards in the booster will be from.  This works for the current booster packs still hanging around most stores from last year, and these packs will contain cards from the same set.  The possible sets for this booster series are: the first unlettered set of 48, set B, and set C.

The number looks something like this:
T64263_0001_20012728_GBL_BC_R1_SP

We are interested in the third set of numbers over, the '20012728' section, and more specifically the last 2 digits of that number, '28'.  The '28' will mean that the pack will contain cards from the first (unlettered) set.  If the last two digits of the number are '17' it will be the 'B' set, and if its '18', that is the 'C' set.

Maybe even more interestingly, the cards that come from these boosters for the first (unlettered) set are all the single language versions of the cards, as opposed to those that come in the Coffers or the Power Packs which are dual-language versions.

Each pack has 2 random color gate cards and 3 ability cards, one of each color(red/blue/green), no special variations (holo/foil/len) appear in these packs.  I don't know if a New Vestroia version of these packs will come out, I think the 10 card Power Packs more or less replaced these, so my guess is we won't.  It doesn't seem to make much sense to have 3 different products on the shelf for just the cards (card boosters, power packs and powerhouse).

If you pick up any of these boosters and can post the contents along with the UPC code (the 2001XXXX number in the white box just below the barcode, not the T64263_0001_20012728_GBL_BC_R1_SP number), I'd appreciate it.

Cheers~

Thanks for the great info Mirth. Now if I can only remember seeing where they were on clearance at. But when and if I do, I'll be sure to post them.

Here's a little update for you Stronger, and whoever else might be interested.

Picked up a reaper figure, they weren't on clearance or anything but I was just curious what was in the pack.  The package has the "Series 1" logo on the front, and comes with 1 (hidden) metal card.  Below are pictures of the front and back of the card, as well as pictures of the figure along with the HSP card.

The reaper figure came with the reaper HSP card, so just a guess, but I assume that each figurine comes with the corresponding HSP card.  The HSP cards also look to be the newer version cards with the new pictures of the characters that look more like they were taken from the anime series.  I was hoping to get some of the non-character HSP cards, but it looks like that probably won't be possible from these packs.  There were quite a few left on the shelf, including the characters Skyress, Preyas, Gorem, Tigrerra, Dragonoid, and Reaper.

That's about it, here are the pictures:

Thanks for the info. Now I wished I had saved my packaging since I bought a Ventus Reaper figure exactly like that one too but I didn't get that card. I did get a Reaper card but not that one and sorry I don't have a good camera for a good picture. Now that just makes it harder since I'll have to pick up multiples of the same one now to get the different cards lol.

Interesting.  Was it this one?

I don't really want to bother much with buying these when they aren't on sale.   :-\

Maybe I'll pick up another one or two this week just for giggles.

Nope. I wish I had that one. I got these two. These pictures aren't mine but they'll do.

This first one I got with a Darkus Translucent Reaper figure.

And then the Ventus Reaper figure I got this one. Couldn't find a better picture of this 2nd one.

Geeze.  How many different Reaper cards are there?  :o

Ya, the one with the highlighted 300 Darkus is pretty cool, wish I had gotten that one.  Plus the graveyard picture is way better also.

If I get anymore, I'll be sure to note the UPC code and contents, maybe I'll add it to my contents thread to keep track of it.

Cheers,
 Mirth

just make sure you get the one with the "spilt milk" base and NOT the ones with the half-circle base.

Hmmm.  Why?  Mine had the "spilt milk base".  What's wrong with the half-circle figure packs lol?

Edit: or was that not directed to me?

He told me this before. The "spilt milk base" are the older figures that will come with an HSP card. Whereas the half-circle means they are of a newer set or wave if you will. Which I believe come with only an Ability card. If you read carefully too on the front of the packaging near the name of the figure, it will say which kind of card it comes with. The "spilt milk base" always comes with a metal gate card. And the newer ones come with Ability cards only I believe.
