Timing the Rock Hammer effect
« on: March 08, 2010, 08:53:11 PM »
Basically we reached a pivotal point in our match and this happened:

Judge: Gate card, o-

Both of us: ROCK HAMMER!!!!!!!

*The two battle gear collide in midair*

Judge: Uh... what were you going to do?

NP: I was gonna Rock Hammer his VILANTOR.

Kohdok: I was gonna Rock Hammer his Rock Hammer.

Judge:   :o :o :o

Now we both had this move ready. I actually put in my post before NP even rolled that the instant the card flipped over, I was going to Rock Hammer his Rock Hammer because I knew he was going to Rock Hammer my Vilantor if I didn't.

The question is: Which effect happens first? Also, is there a "Last-in, First-out" clause so even if mine went second, does its timing cause the first effect?

Both Rock Hammer plays were legal. It was on a bronze card, My Rock Hammer was Bronze and NP was using a Ventus Bakugan.

Well I'd just go with whoever's turn it is can activate it first or you can do this.

Yeah. This has come up with my kids and I when brawling..

And it needs an OFFICIAL answer I think, in the F.A.Q. for sure !!

Who gets to use a reference card Gear ability FIRST ? First to stand ? Or shoudn't it be the player who last STOOD and INITIATED Battle ?

Don't the rules refer to players taking turns playing ability cards etc ??  ::)

KOHDOK: This is the question you need to ask LD or the OFFICIAL forums cuz who on BakuganBuzz will be able to RULE on this ? Or are you just asking opionions ?

Maybe whoever's gate it is, because they already have pre-conceived notions on what to do, or the challenger on an opponents gate for an upper edge? The world may never know......Wait, thats Tootsie Pops?

Well, it's whoevers turn it is that gets to decide. Your turn, you roll, stand and have the ability to play ac, trap, gears, first. If not your opponent, then you could go again.

Yeah, that is probably right. Whoevers turn it is who rolls and stands creating a battle that same turn gets to use their ability or gear first.

I still say we need a solid decision from SM. Then again, that's like pulling teeth.

I think it's somewhere in the FAQ or rulebook. Could of sworn I read something about it.

Yeah. This and also whether or not you can use a Battle Gear AND a attribute changing NV trap at the same battle. ;)

The rules say that a player plays a Gear and you get the ability. It doesn't say you have a choice(whether to activate it or not).

Assuming traps and gears are considered an "action" and ability cards, are as well, the rules say that the player who's turn it is gets to play abilities first, then the other player, then back to the other.

But where does it say that? Got links for us?

I wonder if the Designer  could use some help with the rules, as well....
No.... The faq says that the special ability is optional.

As for the effect problem, I'd do them both at the same time. During a battle, there is no turn order, so it's one big clusterbolt of cards and non-spherical (Or spherical if you want to re-enact WW2) plastic flying through the air.
